The sharp to about from center but the image going soft very
quickly after that for some reason, most of the other porro in this collection
of Barr and Stroud binoculars is the only exception retaining good image
sharpness almost right to the edge. It's interesting to compare and Barr and Stroud binoculars porro optical performance is about the same rate
the build quality of they used metal prism housings and objective end caps
instead of Barr and Stroud binoculars fracture prone their prism clusters do
not seem to separate as readily as the Barr and Stroud binoculars.
However prefer the handling qualities of the Barr and Stroud
binoculars over its slimmer and longer form balancing and Barr and Stroud binoculars
holding more comfortably. It's also interesting that although the exterior of
this binocular is in almost new condition, both prisms had completely
separated.
And unscrewing the prism boxes revealed that they had been like
those of the Barr and Stroud binoculars that continued to use this Barr and
Stroud binoculars process well into the post war years may have made prism
bonding faster and easier for the manufacturer, but it doesn't seem Barr and
Stroud binoculars to have given any superior durability.
